Andreas Oppermann, President of Oppermann GmbH, a global manufacturer of textile webbing products, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Southern Weaving Company, located in the Upstate region of South Carolina. The transaction was finalized on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. In the near term, Oppermann plans to continue operating the Southern Weaving facilities located in Greenville and Anderson, S.C. Oppermann GmbH will continue to service webbing markets from its existing production facility in Piedmont, S.C. while undergoing a plant expansion capable of merging the Greenville, S.C. production within the next year. Southern Weaving’s current Anderson, S.C. facility is planned to remain in operation in support of existing markets, customers and products.
A fifth-generation, family-owned business founded in 1848, Oppermann is headquartered in Einbeck, Germany, where it also maintains a production facility. The company also operates plants in the United Kingdom, China and Slovakia, as well as the Piedmont, S.C. facility (Oppermann Webbing, Inc.). Its products are used over a wide spectrum of applications in many international market segments, including industrial, transportation, construction and aviation.
According to Mr. Oppermann, the addition of Southern Weaving employees and processes adds to the Oppermann tradition of providing industry-leading products, reliable deliveries and continuous technical innovation. “We are excited to build upon the legacy Southern Weaving has created since its inception almost a century ago. We recognize the tremendous talent base that Southern Weaving has cultivated and are excited to partner with the employees to build upon those successes.”
Mr. Oppermann expects the transition to be as seamless as possible for Southern Weaving employees, as well as suppliers and customers of both companies. We are looking forward to the future and making Oppermann Webbing the premier webbing supplier in the world.
